Juicer Bloody Marys – Pinterest Recipe Review

Bloody Marys from Juiced Vegetables :)

I want to start this post off with a bit of an update. Last week I posted about water. I was looking for solutions on how to drink more of it. Remember? Sure you do!

So I was at Walmart over the weekend and I found this cup for $5. I had a bit of leftover birthday money, so I bought it. And… I LOVE IT! I easily refill it 3 or 4 times a day. That’s a lot of water, people! I love that I only have to do it 3 or 4 times, it is much more convenient for me than having to refill after every 10 oz, like before. I love that it is pretty much spill proof (a must, with kids). And I love the straw. Love it. I highly recommend this cup for anyone that drinks water. And you

Spaghetti.Garlic.Herbs.Lemon.Marinated Chicken. Pinterest Recipe Review

Put in serving bowl and add Cherry Tomatoes and Parsley

I have to tell you that I am so excited to be a part of this Pinterest Post Party! I’ve been talking about it for days!!!

I think The Husband thinks I’m a bit nuts. I Love him dearly (Happy Anniversary Honey!) and he is great at the tech stuff (imagine words like traffic, code, monetization, analytics, etc – fun, right? ) But, he keeps saying things like “what are you getting for doing it?” um. Nothing. “Well, we can pin it to your Pinterest board and get some extra traffic that way, right?” um. Nope. And I won’t be putting the recipe in the post either. I’ll just talk about what I’m doing and tell them to go to the original post for the recipe.  ”If you aren’t even posting the recipe anywhere, why would you even do it?!” Um. Because it’s fun?!

He

Running with The Husband and a Pinterest Party!

Running the Couch to 5k with The Husband at the Softball Field

This new addiction that I have, working out, is becoming contagious. Last week The Husband decided to join me on this adventure.

Three evenings a week we load up the kids, and their bikes, and drive 5 blocks to the other side of town. (Yes, my town is about 5 blocks wide. And maybe 10 blocks long. With a population of about 800. Jealous?) The softball field has become our “running spot”. The kids play in the dirt part (what is that called? Where the bases are?) on their bikes while The Husband and I do Couch to 5k (C25K) around the entire field. The kids think it is great fun. They occasionally run/walk with us, and think it’s funny when they can catch us. This exercise thing is becoming a family thing. I think I like it.

When I first started C25K

I AM A WRITER! (or Artificial Motivation via Support)

Having the willpower to write through a motivating support system.

Way back when I was in school (almost 15 years ago!) I was a writer. I took every writing class I could. As a junior, I took a college level writing class, and was the only one in the class who received an A. I still have the papers I wrote for that class. When I was in junior high I took a writing class called Artists and Authors, and had the chance to publish a book. I still have that as well.

But that was then. Ever since I finished school I have said, “I am not a writer”. The husband has read some of the stuff I wrote in school, and has been telling me for several years now that I should start a blog. My answer was “I am not a writer”. I still feel like I’m not a

Turning 30 and a Motivation Checkup

Motivation Checkup before Working Out

As I am sitting down on this beautiful Monday morning to write about motivation, I am finding that I have none. Yesterday was my 30th birthday. I had a fantastic day! But health-wise it was not so great…

Cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Good thing they were made from scratch, with no yucky stuff in them. Chinese buffet with a tall Coke for lunch. It was SO good. And yet, kinda gross at the same time. After a while, even the cheat meals that I look forward to aren’t as good as they once were. For dinner I made a homemade Italian Wedding Soup. It was so good! My birthday dessert was a homemade cheesecake with blueberry sauce, made by The Husband. It was sooo good! And to finish the day off, a bit too much wine. I’ll only turn 30 once, right?

Sipping Dirt (or Busy Apple Beet Juice)

Dirty Produce

This week has been a long week. Busy Boy has been sick with a cold for the past couple of days. I’ve been feeling a bit down as well. Some friends are remodeling their kitchen, so we have been trying to help them out when we can, and have had their kids at our house quite a bit (because who wants kids in a house where construction is going on?). My knees and ankles are back to hurting again, so no running. And it’s been freezing outside, so I wouldn’t want to be out there running anyway. Everything just keeps adding up. I was supposed to go to the grocery store on Tuesday, but life was busy on Tuesday and it didn’t happen.

So all day today (Wednesday) I have been trying to figure out what to write about for Thirsty Thursday. I wasn’t

Easter Candy as the Right Choice

Easter Candy as the Right Choice

On Sunday my kids were given Easter baskets full of the “traditional” Easter candy. Chocolate bunny? Check. Jelly beans? Check. M&Ms. Chocolate eggs. Peanut butter eggs. Sour patch jelly beans. Why would someone who eats clean, and usually stays far from this stuff, let her kids have it? And not only have it, but have a LOT of it?

The first thing I want to say is that this is the only candy my kids will get until the next holiday (which is 4th of July. They will get candy from the parade we always go to.) My kids know this. They know that this candy has to last, because it’s all they are going to get.

On our fireplace mantle each of our kids has a bucket. The Husband’s aunt has bought them for the kids, and they are great! They have

Woman vs Wind (or Snotty Mess with a 3 Kid Carry)

Self Discipline is Bridge to Goals

For the last few weeks, since I began running, my kids have been asking to go with me. Normally I run during nap-time. The Husband works at home, so he can just open his office door to hear if there is an emergency. The kids are always asleep, and it only takes me about ½ an hour, so I’m always back before they wake up. It works well for us. Anyway.

The kids keep asking to ride their bikes while I run, so on Saturday I convinced The Husband to come with and walk. That way if there was a problem with the kids he could help and it wouldn’t affect my running. We drove to a long, quiet gravel road and unloaded the bikes. It was at this point that we realized how windy it was.  The Husband asked if we should maybe wait

Filled with LIFE after being Sick and FAT?

Fat Sick Dead

Not too long ago I watched a fantastic documentary on Netflix called “Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead”. The movie is about a guy named Joe Cross who, literally, was fat, sick and nearly dead. He was overweight. He had an autoimmune disease, and high cholesterol, and was at risk for stroke and heart attack. He decided that enough was enough. The movie chronicles his trip across the United States while doing a 60 day juice fast.

After watching the video I started looking into getting a juicer, because a juice fast can’t be done on processed, store bought juice. It needs to be done with Fresh, Whole fruits and vegetables. And it needs to be mostly vegetables. It took a couple of weeks for me to find the right juicer for us. I went back and forth. I really wanted a

Healthy Snickers Blizzard Recipe

Happy Kids From Healthy Treat

Ever since Tiffany over at The Gracious Pantry posted her recipe for coconut banana ice cream I have been making it. A lot. The Husband is in love with ice cream, as are my kids. Me, I could take it or leave it. I’d rather eat chips. Barbeque, if you have to know the kind. Anyway. Back to the ice cream. Tiffany’s recipe is so simple, and it is actually healthy!

Since I started working out I have been struggling to get enough protein. And I have a big ole bag of chocolate protein powder in my cabinet.  I’ve seen recipes for chocolate banana ice cream, by adding cocoa powder. And I wondered what it would be like if instead of cocoa I added the protein powder. Then, after I added the protein powder I looked around and saw a jar of almonds on

My Favorite Lover

My Favorite Lover

I met The Husband when I worked in a coffeehouse. It was there that my love affair began. No, not with The Husband. That happened later, since he was dating a coworker. I’m talking about coffee. Some may say it is an addiction, but I choose to say that it is a love. Some nights I go to bed for no other reason than knowing I can have a hot cup of coffee when I wake up.

I have downgraded from coffeehouse coffee, though. Who has $4.50 to spend on coffee every day? Certainly not me (and really, I never did. One of the perks of works in the coffeehouse was all free coffee I wanted).

My drink of choice back then was a double short caramel vanilla latte. Let me break that down for those of you who don’t know the lingo.

The Early Bird Gets The Worm (or in this case, the healthy body)

Early Bird Gets the Worm

I’ve learned that I always need to work out early. The later the clock gets, the less motivated I am to start working out. I start getting into projects, or the kids want me to play with them. Or I get sucked into Facebook or Pinterest…

However, if I wake up, get Book Girl off to school, and immediately start my workout it goes much better. I may still be tired, I may still not “feel” like it, but if I push through and just start, before I know it I am done.

THEN I get to have my shower and a coffee. Except, if I’m really honest (and I told you I would be, remember?) I don’t always get my shower. That’s right. Some (read: most) days I just change out of my sweaty clothes into the semi-clean clothes

Welcome!

From Fat to Healthy

Welcome to From FAT To Healthy!  I want to use this first post to introduce myself a bit and fill you in on what you can expect from me.

My name is Amanda. I’m a wife of 8 years and a mom to three beautiful kiddos; ages 7, 4, and 2. The Husband is a business man while I stay home with the kids (and try to keep my sanity). My oldest, Book Girl, is in 2nd grade at a charter school. My middle child, Zip Girl, is in preschool. And the baby is my son, Busy Boy.

After my kids were born (all by c-section) I never really did anything to “get my body back”. I just let nature take its course. On its own, my body has come to within 10 pounds of my pre-pregnancy weight. I’ve never counted a calorie, and
