FtoH: Can you tell me a little bit about yourself? Caitlin: I am a trainer and a nutritionist with a supportive husband who is a chef. I live in San Francisco and have my own buisness where I teach people how to get healthy through my blog at www.grassfedgirl.com

FtoH: What was your starting weight? Caitlin: 238 lbs. I am 5’9 I was age 21 when I started my weight loss journey in 2001.

FtoH: What was your goal weight? Caitlin: 150 pounds.

FtoH: What eating plan did you use (for example: Weight Watchers, Atkins, Self, etc)? Caitlin: I started out on weight watchers in 2001, but after 8 years I got an autoimmune disease

From Tears to Smiles (or I can do anything for 2.5 min)

I can do anything for 2.5 min! Even running with a cramp - bringing my tears to smiles :)

On Saturday afternoon I was really feeling sorry for myself. My extended family has been going through some stuff lately, and it’s been hard for me to watch. My husband’s grandparents (whom I love dearly) have been visiting for the last month, and they are leaving today. I had spent a couple hours trying to get a project done on the house, and it just wasn’t going well. The neighbor kid was over playing with my kids, and they left a tornado zone behind them. There was just a lot of stuff on my mind, and it was really bringing me down.

And so, I was laying on the sofa crying, and wishing I had a bag of chips to eat. (Is that honest enough for you? ) As I was laying there, I remembered how much running relieves my stress. I had

Running with The Husband and a Pinterest Party!

This new addiction that I have, working out, is becoming contagious. Last week The Husband decided to join me on this adventure.

Three evenings a week we load up the kids, and their bikes, and drive 5 blocks to the other side of town. (Yes, my town is about 5 blocks wide. And maybe 10 blocks long. With a population of about 800. Jealous?) The softball field has become our “running spot”. The kids play in the dirt part (what is that called? Where the bases are?) on their bikes while The Husband and I do Couch to 5k (C25K) around the entire field. The kids think it is great fun. They occasionally run/walk with us, and think it’s funny when they can catch us. This exercise thing is becoming a family thing. I think I like it.

FtoH: Can you tell me a little bit about yourself? Savanna: I’m a 26 year old wife, mother, dog-owner, blogger at Savvy & Sweet, and employed full-time in the non-profit sector. I love the outdoors, working with people, making connections, and organizing things. I’ve officially been a mom for a full year now!

FtoH: What was your starting weight? Savanna: Pre-pregnancy I weighed 145 lbs- a good, constant weight for my 5’9″ frame that I maintained since high school. By the day of my delivery, I weighed approximately 195 lbs, giving me a 50 lb weight gain from throughout my pregnancy.

Self Discipline is Bridge to Goals

 

For the last few weeks, since I began running, my kids have been asking to go with me. Normally I run during nap-time. The Husband works at home, so he can just open his office door to hear if there is an emergency. The kids are always asleep, and it only takes me about ½ an hour, so I’m always back before they wake up. It works well for us. Anyway.

The kids keep asking to ride their bikes while I run, so on Saturday I convinced The Husband to come with and walk. That way if there was a problem with the kids he could help and it wouldn’t affect my running. We drove to a long, quiet gravel road and unloaded the bikes. It was at this point that we realized how windy it was.  The Husband asked if we should maybe wait
