WooHoo! Nancy!

Nancy on her Bike

Today’s WooHoo story is my friend Nancy. Thank you for sharing your story with us and congratulations on all your progress, Nancy! I want to ask readers to pay extra attention to her parting words – such a valuable perspective

FtoH: Can you tell me a little bit about you? Nancy: I am a 39 yr old working mother of 2. I currently am a nanny for my adorable twin niece and nephew. When I was young I was an athlete and I let life get in the way of living and let myself get very out of shape and technically obese.   FtoH: What was your starting weight and height? Nancy: 237 lbs and I am 5’9″

FtoH: What was your goal weight? Nancy: I am shooting for about 160, but truly just want to be healthy and happy with myself in the mirror!

Pushing through a Hard Week with Firm Support

Push Hard with Support

I know this is supposed to be Fitness Friday, but like I said yesterday, this has been a hard week. I haven’t tried anything new this week, so I have nothing to review for you. I hope you are okay with that.

When I began this journey I knew that there would be hard days, and that I would need to push through them… I did not realize there would be hard weeks. I’ve learned something this week, though.

I am so capable. Even things I thought I couldn’t do. I can. When it is 9 pm and my eyes are heavy from my long day and my pillow is calling my name… I can still choose to workout. This happened not once, but twice this week. Remember when I said that I needed to work out right away in the morning or it

POP Pilates with Cassey Ho

Cassey Ho Blogilates

For Fitness Friday today I want to share something that I found recently that I am completely in love with. Here’s the story.

I was doing the 30 Day Shred with Jillian and loving it. Then I pushed a bit too hard, and my shoulders got so sore I couldn’t lift my arms. So the Shred was out and I needed something else. Enter: Couch to 5k. Running. I forgot how much I love to run! I  did week 1 day 1, then went back to the Shred. I spent a week alternating back and forth, three days Shred and three days C25K, one rest day.  Then my knee started hurting.

The first couple days of week two I pushed through it. The pain got so bad I could barely get up the stairs to my bedroom. I knew I needed

30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels

30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels

Last week I was a couch potato. I spent maybe 10 minutes a day total “working out”, meaning running after kids, going up the stairs to the second floor of my home, etc. Not really a workout, but at least a smidge of movement.

Then the snow melted. I spent 1/2 hour raking the leaves up from my front lawn. Let me tell you, I thought I was going to die. Now, I’m 5’4″ and 135 pounds. A bit overweight, but not enough that I ever worried about it. I thought I was fine. I was healthy enough. WRONG! There is nothing, anywhere, that says you should feel almost dead from raking leaves for 30 minutes! I am so out of shape it is pathetic!

I’ve reached my aha moment. It’s on. I decided I wasn’t  going to ease into it. If I’m

WooHoo! Josette!

Weight Lifting

For our very first ever WooHoo! Wednesday, we are joined by a personal friend of mine. She has been my inspiration throughout the process of beginning my new, healthy, life. When I grow up I want to be just like her. Please welcome my girl, Josette!

FtoH: Can you tell us a little bit about you? Josette: I’m a 34 your old SAHM to four kids. I used to be in pretty good shape before I had my last three kids. A combination of quitting smoking and having babies back to back to back and not losing any weight in between caused me to gain around 100 pounds.  My first attempt at losing weight took place in 2009. I was pretty successful with it. I lost 90 pounds and was happy with my weight but it didn’t last long. I didn’t learn a very
