For Fitness Friday today I want to share something that I found recently that I am completely in love with. Here’s the story.
I was doing the 30 Day Shred with Jillian and loving it. Then I pushed a bit too hard, and my shoulders got so sore I couldn’t lift my arms. So the Shred was out and I needed something else. Enter: Couch to 5k. Running. I forgot how much I love to run! I did week 1 day 1, then went back to the Shred. I spent a week alternating back and forth, three days Shred and three days C25K, one rest day. Then my knee started hurting.
The first couple days of week two I pushed through it. The pain got so bad I could barely get up the stairs to my bedroom. I knew I needed to take a break. Talk about frustrating! I wasn’t ready to give up, though. I knew I just needed to find something less impact. I decided to look on Youtube, because I don’t have any money to invest in DVD’s or classes.
Let me tell you… NOT HAVING MONEY IS NO EXCUSE FOR NOT WORKING OUT!!! There are SO MANY videos for free on Youtube, that you would never run out!
I happened to find something called POP Pilates. They are videos done by a fantastic woman named Cassey. I started out with the POP Pilates for Beginners Total Body Workout. I fell in love. Cassey is a great instructor. She goes slowly. She explains, in detail, every single move. She is cheerful and encouraging. She motivates you to do your best.
But don’t mistake any of that for it being easy. These workouts are hard.
After a few days of the beginner videos (she also has a core one and an upper body one), I took an extra rest day. I could tell my knee was feeling better, and I wanted to make sure it got all the way.
Yesterday. I tried the POP Pilates New Body Makeover video. Wow! I think it was the hardest workout I have ever done. Ever. My entire body was shaky and felt like Jello. Cassey really kicks your butt in this one. And she’s not in your face and mean about it, she keeps her sweet smile on her face and her cheerful voice and just keeps encouraging you. The 1/2 hour was over before I knew it.
Today, I think I feel every single muscle in my body. The one thing I don’t feel? ANY joint pain. I was able to finish up Week 2 of C25K today, and I’m feeling great. I love, love, love, all the changes I can already feel in my body. After just a couple weeks I am already starting to feel like a new person. I think I may have a new addiction. ha!
Do you have any favorite workouts that you do? I am learning that I get bored pretty quickly. I’m not really missing the Shred at all. I’m wondering what I should try next… any suggestions for me? Thanks!
Smile and have a great day!
